If you’re a small business owner, you know that keeping your marketing efforts up to date is critical for success. So what’s the best way to do that? By using an email marketing service! But which one should you choose? In my Flodesk review, I’ll be comparing Flodesk vs Mailchimp, two of the most popular email marketing providers. I’ll answer some common questions like, “How much is Flodesk?” and “Is Mailchimp free to use?” I’ll also highlight the pros and cons of each from my experience to help you decide which one is right for you. And although this will give away my true feelings about Flodesk vs Mailchimp, I do have a 50% off Flodesk discount code you can use! Through this Flodesk review, you’ll learn why I ultimately made the switch.
Why Compare Flodesk vs Mailchimp?
My Flodesk review compares Flodesk vs Mailchimp because those are the two platforms I decided between in early 2021. I used Mailchimp’s free plan on and off for about a year when Flodesk came into the picture. Before explaining why I switched to Flodesk, it’s important to understand why I first used Mailchimp.
What is Mailchimp Used For?
Mailchimp is an all-in-one marketing platform designed for small businesses to send email campaigns to their audience. It sounds simple, but Mailchimp is very robust and has many powerful automation tools, data analytics, and integration abilities. While it becomes easier to use after a while, it requires a significant learning curve.
So, why did I use Mailchimp for my email marketing efforts when I started my business? Because it’s free for up to 2,000 email subscribers. Also, Mailchimp has a lot of customization features you can use to create email layouts from scratch.
Mailchimp Pros and Cons
Mailchimp Pros
- Free for up to 2,000 email subscribers and basic features
- Customizable email template builder
- Thorough reporting and analytics
- Robust integration features
Mailchimp Cons
- Paid plans increase based on subscriber count
- Features like A/B testing, custom branding, and customer support are only available with paid plans
- Complex process for building forms and automated workflows
- Less modern and aesthetically-pleasing design capabilities
- Confusing and clunky dashboard navigation
Although I initially chose Mailchimp because of its free plan, I ultimately made the switch to Flodesk, and I’m glad I did. Keep reading my Flodesk review to learn why. (And don’t forget to use my 50% off Flodesk discount code if you decide to make the switch, too!)
What is Flodesk Used For?
Flodesk is an easy-to-use email marketing platform designed by creators for creators. Like many of us, the founders were frustrated with other email marketing tools. Instead of complaining about it, they did something about it. They developed Flodesk.
Flodesk offers a free 30-day trial, so before making the switch, I tried it for free to determine which was better, Flodesk vs Mailchimp. After 30 days, I was hooked. I needed an email marketing platform that made creating and sending emails easy. As a busy small business owner, I simply don’t have the time to spend hours trying to streamline my email process. I needed something that was already simplified without compromising quality. Mailchimp has so many options, which is what some people want. I wanted simplicity. Flodesk offers simple yet quality email marketing tools.
4 Ways Flodesk Makes My Life Easier: My Flodesk Review
When you log onto Flodesk, you’ll see four main options at the top of the browser: Emails, Forms, Workflows, and Audience. What more do you need? (Other than my 50% off Flodesk discount code, of course!)
Flodesk Emails
Flodesk emails are beautiful. Honestly, they are the best-looking emails I’ve seen. The platform offers multiple pre-built templates that are easy to customize. Plus, with Flodesk’s brand features, you can save your colors and logo for fast customization. If you’re short on time, you can choose any template, update the images and text to meet your needs, and send it confidently.
However, if you want increased customization options, Flodesk offers that too. Each Flodesk email uses “blocks” that are pre-designed. Their intuitive email builder lets you choose from multiple layouts to create your own email template. You can customize blocks, fonts, and text size, add hyperlinks, buttons, and images, all without a single line of code. It’s all built into the Flodesk email platform. In the comparison between Flodesk vs Mailchimp, both are customizable. But Flodesk makes it almost too easy to send stunning on-brand emails quickly.
Flodesk Forms
Now, if you think I’m writing a positive Flodesk review because of the emails, think again. It’s actually Flodesk’s form feature that really “sold” me. Whether you want a pop-up form, inline form, or full-page form, you can choose from tons of templates and easily customize them. Then, you can add your form to your website or as a link in your Instagram bio. My favorite way to use Flodesk forms is as an email capture tool via Flodesk workflows.
Flodesk Workflows
Flodesk workflows are easy to create, making growing your email list a breeze. Simply choose an offer for your audience in exchange for their email address. Maybe it’s a free resource or a promo code for a discount on their first purchase. Then, create your form that showcases the offer and has slots for your audience to enter their email address. Then, design your email that includes a PDF of the resource or a promo code (like the Flodesk code “SNRGCM” for 50% off Flodesk, *wink wink*). Then, create a workflow.
Start by choosing a segment. For example, “Flodesk Promo Code.” That way, each time someone fills out your form, they are automatically added to your audience with the segment tag “Flodesk Promo Code.” Then, set up a rule stating that anyone tagged “Flodesk Promo Code” automatically gets sent the email with the offer. It’s that simple. Once you set up your workflow, it automatically captures email addresses and sends your offer to your engaged and growing audience.
Flodesk Audience
Whether you build your audience automatically with a workflow or want to add subscribers manually, it’s easy to do. If you’re switching from Mailchimp to Flodesk, you can export your contacts and easily upload them to Flodesk as a CSV file. Add segments to organize your contacts and start sending those emails!
Flodesk Pros and Cons
Flodesk Pros
- Choose from TONS of pre-made email templates
- Brand your emails quickly by saving your brand colors, logo, etc.
- Set up automatic workflows using customized forms
- Integrate your social media feeds into your emails
- Unlimited email subscribers with NO price increase
Flodesk Cons
- No free plan (only a 30-day free trial)
- Simple email marketing tools (which is a con for those who want their email marketing platform to serve as a CRM as well)
- No A/B testing, advanced segmentation, or media library (yet–Flodesk is still relatively new, so we’ll likely see more features in the future)
- Limited integration abilities with other marketing tools
Although my Flodesk review praises the platform, there are some cons. Yet, even with the drawbacks of Flodesk, they still take the lead in the Flodesk vs Mailchimp comparison. Some of the cons aren’t relevant to me. For example, I use Honeybook as my CRM (use my Honeybook discount code for 50% off), and I don’t need any advanced features for my email marketing efforts.
How Much is Flodesk Monthly? My Flodesk Discount Code
Flodesk costs $38 per month. If you use my 50% off Flodesk code, that price gets cut in half to $19 per month. The best part about Flodesk pricing is that you get unlimited access to all its features. And their price doesn’t increase as your email list grows, unlike Mailchimp. When I made the switch to Flodesk, the cost was a challenge. However, I decided it was worth it because creating beautiful on-brand emails and forms is so easy. But you need to decide for yourself, which is why I suggest starting the Flodesk free 30-day trial. If you love it, use my code “SNRGCM” at checkout for 50% off Flodesk!
As with all the small business tools promo codes I offer, I don’t promote tools I don’t use. I stand behind my Flodesk review and am excited to offer a 50% off Flodesk discount code!
