To all the one-person small businesses out there… this one’s for you. While ClickUp may be a great resource for large companies with hundreds of employees, my ClickUp review focuses on how I use ClickUp to manage my client projects as a small business owner. While there are many “big names” in the project management world, like Monday, Trello, and Asana, I wanted to find a small business project management software that was simple and cost-effective. What I found was ClickUp. So, without further ado, here’s my ClickUp review, as well as a 20% off ClickUp promo code link for you if you opt to try ClickUp as your small business project management tool.
Why Do Small Businesses Need Project Management?
When I first started my content marketing business, I managed my projects on a Word document. It worked for a while, but I needed a more structured project management system as my business grew. I had used Monday and Trello at previous jobs, so I knew where to start when looking for management software.
One thing I’ve always liked about Monday is the list view with options to add subitems and customized columns to each project. What I don’t like about Monday is the cost. In my search for a small business project management tool, I did try Monday for free, and I liked it. But when it came to the cost, I knew it wasn’t feasible or reasonable for a team of one. Because Asana and Trello didn’t offer the list view I was looking for, I knew the only solution was to find a Monday alternative that worked within my price range.
After a few free trials of various management software–some that lasted only a few minutes before I knew it wasn’t the system for me–I found ClickUp.
Using ClickUp for Small Business Project Management
ClickUp has a free forever plan, so that’s what I signed up for when I first started using the software. As soon as I realized it had multiple “Views,” including the list view I was looking for, I was hooked. I started inputting my client project information, color-coordinating my boards, and customizing tasks to manage them using dropdown column menus. The only problem? I needed more space right away. I instantly reached out to the company, and they gave me a discount on my first year with them. (If you want a ClickUp discount, you can CLICK HERE for 20% off your ClickUp package!)
What is ClickUp Good For? My ClickUp Review
My ClickUp review focuses on using ClickUp for project organization and task management. It is also good for internal communications, but since I am the only one using it, I can’t provide a ClickUp review on that feature (maybe in the future, as Synergy continues to grow!). Here’s how I use ClickUp for small business project management, with photo examples, for all you visual learners out there.
I use the “Spaces” section to organize my client work by the month.
I use the “List” view in the “Spaces” section to track projects for various clients.
I customize each dropdown menu to match my project management structure.
I list each client as a “Task,” and projects for that client are listed underneath as “Subtasks.”
I click on each subtask and insert details about the project in a text box, including Google Docs and other links when needed.
As I work through each project, I update my dropdown menu selection to represent how far along I am and mark when the project is complete.
Is ClickUp Easy to Use?
Yes, I find ClickUp easy to use. As you can see from my ClickUp review, it’s easy to customize tasks so you can track your projects in the best way for you. You can adjust and personalize all columns and dropdown options, so they make sense for your business model. ClickUp also has a “Home” dashboard you can customize to give an overview of your upcoming projects.
